About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of radiographic procedures, including general radiography, C-arm, Operating Room procedures, special procedures, Emergency Room procedures, and Bone Mineral Density Testing.

Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures to patients and instruct and assist patients in assuming physical positions for examination to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Perform radiographic procedures and apply principles of protection.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical quality.
  • Provide patient care essential to radiographic procedure and recognize patient condition requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures.
  • Review images for proper identification and quality control and prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Assist technologists with preparing solutions used in radiologic and other diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Transport patients to radiologic diagnostic procedures.
  • File radiology orders.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies.
  • Follow x-ray safety guidelines and guidelines for proper start-up and shutdown.
  • Operate the department computer system for scheduling and billing procedures.
  • Operate PACS system to ensure all images are verified and sent.
  • Start IV's and administer IV contrast and/or medication when patient requires medication.
  • Work with patients of all ages to develop an understanding of their physical and emotional status.
  • May cross train as needed and perform studies and share call responsibilities in Ultrasound, BMD, CT, and MRI. Assist in cross-training other department personnel and/or students.
  • Maintain supply inventory.
  • Perform daily quality control, report equipment malfunctions to the Radiology Director, and report safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Completion of two years of training in an AMA-approved school of radiologic technology. Registry eligible by ARRT. Preference will be given to applicants with Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and/or Bone Mineral Density Testing experience.
