Position Summary

This is a full-time culinary role at our Secure Residential Treatment Facility, dedicated to providing specialized care for adults with psychiatric challenges.

The culinary specialist is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals for residents in a supportive environment. This role emphasizes the promotion of social, dietary, and hygiene skills while ensuring the kitchen and meal preparation areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. The specialist also plays a vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals in appropriate quantities for facility residents.
  • Supervise the activities of one or more assistants involved in meal preparation and service.
  • Implement food handling regulations concerning preparation and storage.
  • Adhere to health and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure consistent quality of meals while managing costs effectively.
  • Oversee inventory and supply management.

Qualifications

A minimum of one year of experience in a similar culinary setting is preferred. Candidates must obtain the Oregon Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment.

Proficiency in using email, creating documents, and managing electronic files is required. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and other MS Office applications is preferred.

Applicants must successfully pass state-required background and DMV checks, possess a valid Oregon driver's license, and maintain a satisfactory driving record for client transportation. The ability to work independently and adaptively under general supervision is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate a mature attitude and sensitivity towards individuals with mental health conditions, along with an understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality. The ability to follow both verbal and written instructions is crucial.
