Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and clarify financial policies and screening processes to patients, their families, and legal guardians within the Emory Clinic to ensure optimal reimbursement through proactive identification and collection of patient liabilities.
  • Act as a resource for both staff and patients regarding financial arrangements, account inquiries, and reconciliations, including thorough auditing, while serving as a liaison between Patient Financial Services and clinic operations to address billing inquiries and enhance customer satisfaction promptly.
  • Possess a solid understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and various third-party payers, along with referral and precertification protocols.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and compliance standards set forth by Emory Healthcare.
  • Facilitate payment arrangements for outstanding balances not covered by insurance or for patients without coverage.
  • Ensure financial clearance for patients prior to their appointments by collecting payments or verifying insurance eligibility.
  • Provide financial counseling to satellite clinics for designated sections as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, coupled with a minimum of three years of experience in the healthcare sector, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and other managed care payers (HMO, PPO, etc.).
