Environmental Safety Specialist

The Environmental Safety Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert on environmental compliance issues affecting Government facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical environmental regulatory assistance and guidance to facilitate environmental compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Conduct environmental compliance inspections/audits/evaluations as directed by the Government to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and Presidential Executive Orders.
- Develop and/or review applicable environmental compliance and management plans.
- Review National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and provide Facilities' project managers advice on NEPA applicability.
- Draft policy statements, standard operating procedures, fact sheets, newsletter articles and other communications regarding current and future environmental regulations affecting the Government.
- Update and monitor environmental regulatory permits held by the Government, including the development and conduct of environmental compliance training for Government employees and contractors.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or engineering.
- Certifications: Valid U.S. Driver's License, International Driver's License, valid U.S. Passport, and ability to drive a manual transmission non-tactical vehicle (SUV, pickup truck/9 passenger van).
- Experience: Five (5) years' of related experience, nationally recognized environmental credential desired (Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Professional Engineer (PE), etc.), one (1) year of OCONUS experience with local contractors and labor forces, and six (6) months of experience working in a Government-designated war zone.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to analyze, prioritize, and problem solve effectively.
- Written and oral communication skills, especially ability to brief senior officials.
- Strong multi-tasker with the ability to manage time and priorities.
- Strong leadership, project management, team building and presentation skills.
