**Job Summary**

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) is seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Environmental Policy Specialist. This role plays a crucial part in promoting safety, protecting the environment, and conserving resources offshore through vigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement.

Salary Range: $117,962 - $153,354 per annum

Responsibilities

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Safety Enforcement Division (SED), in Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-13), the major duties of this position include:

  • Working with collaborative groups to develop bureau-wide policy, including providing input on policy correspondence, directives, proposed legislation, regulations, reports, decision documents, and budgetary proposals.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to define guidelines for enforcement decision-making, supporting the drafting of directives and policy documents related to civil penalty and enforcement.
  • Reviewing data and analyzing trends to identify risks, highlighting key statistics and vital information.
  • Serving as the SED representative on bureau and departmental teams and workgroups to ensure inclusion of the national enforcement office.

Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Basic Educational Requirements: There are no education requirements for this position.
  • Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
  • Specialized Experience for GS-13: To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
