Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Switchgear Field Specialist to join our team at Vertiv. As a key member of our field services team, you will be responsible for assisting in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering 480VAC/15KVAC electrical switchgear.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering 480VAC/15KVAC electrical switchgear
  • Establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate
  • Evaluate the operating conditions of equipment and interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear and respond to emergency calls at customer's request
  • Strive to provide all customers a 'first time fix' for their equipment and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of time cards, expense reports, etc.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of hands-on electronic experience or field services is desired
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies, experience, and/or prior military service performing applicable job duties
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals
  • Reading schematics and blueprints for power control, automation is desired
  • Power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills is desired
  • Background in electrical power including low voltage through medium voltage and experience with most types of switchgear testing is a plus
  • Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must have ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds
  • Valid driver's license is required
Working Conditions
  • Travel is required, individual assignments are typically 3 to 5 weeks in duration
  • When on assignment, working schedules are typically 10-12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, day, or night shift
  • This is a hands-on field, travel type position. The travel - up to 80% - could be national/international depending on site locations
  • Flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, and holidays)
