Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

At Sonoco, we're committed to excellence in every aspect of our business. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment downtime and ensure efficient production
  • Install and maintain auxiliary equipment as required by production
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve proactive problem resolutions
  • Manage small projects to maintain or upgrade equipment
  • Perform all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies
Requirements:
  • Experience in an industrial environment or military experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, industrial and motor controls
  • Comfortable with mechanical lifts, ladders, kneeling, bending, and twisting; lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in an off-shift position with rotating shifts that will require overtime including weekends
