Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Pathology Specialist to join our team at BronxCare Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing gross examinations of surgical specimens, maintaining and monitoring Anatomic Pathology's QC/QA/PI programs, and contributing to Performance/Quality Improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform gross examinations of surgical specimens and prepare slides for histological processing.
  • Take photographs of specimens as required and review preliminary Surgical Pathology reports and protocols.
  • Arrange slides for Attending Pathologist's interpretation and prepare specimens for electron microscopy, chromosomal studies, immunofluorescence, and other special studies.
  • Assist in the performance of Post-Mortem Examinations (Autopsies) and supervise and monitor the activities and job performance of the Morgue Aide(s).
  • Interact with residents/fellows of the various clinical services to discuss laboratory issues and clinico-pathologic correlation.
  • Assist the Attending Pathologist in preparing and presenting interdepartmental conferences and lectures.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years experience in the field of surgical pathology.
  • Bachelor's in Science or Master's in Biological Science.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in laboratory information systems.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will be required to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
