Van Operator

The Van Operator provides exceptional transportation services to clients requiring wheelchair-accessible vehicles. This role involves responding to scheduled calls, transporting clients to their destinations, and maintaining effective communication with dispatchers.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in departmental educational activities and meetings.
- Provide comprehensive documentation of daily duties and clients transported.
- Maintain assigned van and equipment in clean and efficient working order.
- Operate the van according to departmental policies and traffic ordinances, prioritizing client and Van Operator safety.
- Report to work on time, in proper uniform, and with assigned equipment.
- Carry necessary permits and licenses while on duty.
- Observe proper radio procedures and respond to client needs promptly and positively.
- Assume responsibility for professional education, knowledge of policies, and certification requirements.
- Notify supervisors of accidents, injuries, or other issues involving the Van or Van Operator/Attendant.
- Support the mission, goals, and policies of A-MMED Ambulance Inc.
The Van Operator must possess a current Jefferson Parish van attendant permit and Orleans CPNC permit. A valid Operator's license, Class D, and completion of defensive driving and Heart Saver CPR with First Aid training are also required.
Physical DemandsThe Van Operator must be able to secure clients to wheelchairs and operate the wheelchair lift safely. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling equipment, and talking and hearing ability is required for communication with dispatchers and clients.
