Position Summary
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the agency's facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe and clean environment for both clients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate basic to intermediate skills in construction, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and drywall. HVAC experience is a plus.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks on building interiors and exteriors, such as replacing light bulbs, repairing doors and windows, changing ceiling tiles and filters, painting, and performing other general maintenance duties.
- Utilize a variety of hand, power, and specialized tools to carry out plumbing, painting, carpentry, and ventilation tasks.
- Reconfigure and install office and classroom furniture, work surfaces, storage solutions, lighting, and file cabinets to optimize space.
- Maintain clean and attractive facility grounds and parking areas, free of debris, and report any maintenance or safety concerns to your supervisor.
- Review daily work order priorities to ensure efficient task management.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown as required.
- Work safely and identify unsafe conditions, taking appropriate actions to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
- Maintain equipment used on the grounds and be responsible for its proper use.
- Clear snow from walkways and driveways, apply salt as needed, and manage landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and debris removal.
- Participate in the coordination of operations for special events.
- Conduct inspections as directed to ensure compliance with operational procedures.
- Assist in the transportation of agency donations.
- Carry a pager or cell phone to respond to emergency calls.
- Exhibit regular and punctual attendance.
- Complete required training and development hours as mandated by agency policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required. A minimum of five years of experience in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, drywall, or HVAC is preferred.
Certifications:
- Preferred certifications or at least five years of experience in the following areas:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- Drywall
- HVAC
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Reaching above shoulder level.
- Operating moving mechanical parts.
- Walking and bending.
- Risk of electrical shock and exposure to fumes.
