Position Summary

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the agency's facilities and grounds, ensuring a safe and clean environment for both clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate basic to intermediate skills in construction, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and drywall. HVAC experience is a plus.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on building interiors and exteriors, such as replacing light bulbs, repairing doors and windows, changing ceiling tiles and filters, painting, and performing other general maintenance duties.
  • Utilize a variety of hand, power, and specialized tools to carry out plumbing, painting, carpentry, and ventilation tasks.
  • Reconfigure and install office and classroom furniture, work surfaces, storage solutions, lighting, and file cabinets to optimize space.
  • Maintain clean and attractive facility grounds and parking areas, free of debris, and report any maintenance or safety concerns to your supervisor.
  • Review daily work order priorities to ensure efficient task management.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown as required.
  • Work safely and identify unsafe conditions, taking appropriate actions to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
  • Maintain equipment used on the grounds and be responsible for its proper use.
  • Clear snow from walkways and driveways, apply salt as needed, and manage landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and debris removal.
  • Participate in the coordination of operations for special events.
  • Conduct inspections as directed to ensure compliance with operational procedures.
  • Assist in the transportation of agency donations.
  • Carry a pager or cell phone to respond to emergency calls.
  • Exhibit regular and punctual attendance.
  • Complete required training and development hours as mandated by agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required. A minimum of five years of experience in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, drywall, or HVAC is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Preferred certifications or at least five years of experience in the following areas:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Carpentry
    • Drywall
    • HVAC
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Reaching above shoulder level.
  • Operating moving mechanical parts.
  • Walking and bending.
  • Risk of electrical shock and exposure to fumes.
