Certified Nursing Aide

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Certified Nursing Assistant at Highcrest Hospital of Overland Park is responsible for delivering essential nursing care and support services to patients requiring long-term acute or transitional restorative care, adhering to established nursing protocols and under the supervision of a registered nurse.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid CNA or LNA state certification and ensure ongoing certification/license renewal in compliance with regulatory standards;
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred;
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with the Internet and email, is advantageous;
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English;
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required;
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver comprehensive patient/resident care that addresses both psychosocial and physical needs within the CNA's scope of practice, including but not limited to: assisting with feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, taking vital signs, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness of rooms, setting up medical equipment, assisting with procedures, responding to call lights, and monitoring changes in patient/resident conditions or behaviors;
- Adhere to current documentation standards and complete necessary records within the assigned shift;
- Implement established infection control protocols;
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information;
- Exhibit ethical behavior and provide excellent customer service;
- Consistently arrive on time and fulfill the assigned work schedule;
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Physical: Walking - up to 50%; Standing - up to 75%; Kneeling - up to 25%; Sitting - up to 25%; Pushing - up to 50%; Bending - up to 25%; Squatting - up to 25%; Pulling - up to 50%; Reaching - up to 35%; Lifting - up to 50 lbs; Wrist/Finger Movements - up to 90%.
Mental: Moderate stress level.
EXPOSURE RISK:
Category I - This position routinely involves tasks that may expose the employee to blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials. Appropriate precautions must be taken by all healthcare providers in this role.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Includes but is not limited to: blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, beds, scales, lifts, telephones, facsimile machines, copiers, and computers.
