Job Summary:

Under the supervision of management, the Front Desk Representative maintains a high level of customer service by signing up and checking in members, greeting guests, and answering phone calls. The representative directs members through the facility, interacts with members during recreational activities, and maintains a professional and organized appearance to members, parents, and visitors at The Salvation Army's facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greets and checks-in all members, adults, and visitors, and keeps an accurate check-in system.
  • Becomes acquainted with and able to answer all questions regarding programs and activities; distributes information packets, registration, etc. to parents and members.
  • Ensures the counter, supplies, and area behind the desk are clean and presentable at all times.
  • Escorts guests to their destination, gives tours of the facility.
  • Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Updates the front lobby message board monitors, by computer, to display the most current information.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings with the Lead Town Ambassador.
  • Interacts with members in recreational activities; assists Program Aides and other staff with the implementation of activities and lessons.
  • Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of children participating in programs; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Exhibits control of the children and, when needed, displays proper discipline techniques.
  • Monitors room, bathroom, and gym for cleaning needs and reports to the janitor staff.
Financial Responsibilities:
  • Signs up new members, records correct information, and fills out receipts for any cash transactions that take place during the day; collects membership and other fees from parents.
Liaison Responsibilities:
  • Liaises with area schools to increase program participation, encourage new member enrollments, and current member retention.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a smooth and professional front desk for parents and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
  • Ability to monitor member behavior and daily activities to determine when crisis intervention is needed and to effectively communicate member behavior to supervisory staff.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year experience performing customer service duties in an office environment.
  • Valid State Driver's License (preferred).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe).
Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
