Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Universal Health Services. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our medical team.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure chart readiness prior to patient visits and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Neutralize patient glasses and set prescriptions into the Field Analyzer, ensuring precise and accurate testing.
  • Instruct patients on and administer visual field tests, recording information in patient charts and communicating results to physicians.
  • Complete charting and ensure doctors have seen results and discussed abnormal results with patients, conducting follow-up as needed.
  • Process patient charge tickets and enter ICD-9 codes based on physician diagnoses.
  • Perform occasional filing and follow-up tracking of lab and x-ray reports.
  • Maintain COA and BLS certification, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one to two years of ophthalmology/optometry group experience preferred.
  • CPR certification and COA certification required.
