WORK OBJECTIVE

As an Aquatic Safety Officer, you will oversee a range of swimming and recreational activities at a municipal pool. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the pool, prioritizing the convenience and safety of all patrons. This role requires close supervision and allows for limited independent judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with some experience as a lifeguard, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. A current American Red Cross Lifeguarding or Shallow Water Lifeguard certificate is mandatory. Additionally, valid certifications in American Red Cross First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are required.

Preferred qualifications include certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, or Pool Operator certifications. A valid Florida driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is also necessary. National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification is preferred and should be obtained within one year of employment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Various positions are available within the Parks and Recreation Department.

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements may undergo a comprehensive selection process, which may include evaluations of training and experience, psychological assessments, background checks, medical evaluations, and drug screenings.
