We are seeking a highly skilled IT Project Management Senior Specialist to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) team, you will be responsible for leading and managing multiple complex, cross-functional projects, coordinating with customers and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple complex, cross-functional projects, coordinating with customers and IT teams.
  • Independently manage, plan, and control multiple medium projects or one or two large, complex projects for statewide customers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define business deliverables, build project work plans, estimate effort, prepare schedules, and manage resources.

  • Develop detailed project timelines, manage project scope, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor and control project budgets and contracts, adjusting plans and reporting status regularly.
  • Manage Change, Risk, and Quality management processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate key project information (issues, risks, changes, accomplishments) to stakeholders.
  • Maintain the Portfolio Management Project Board and communicate project readiness and status.
  • Perform contract management, including RFQQ, RFP, procurement processes, and vendor performance.
  • Facilitate sprint planning and retrospectives, manage sprint boards, create project dashboards with analytics (e.g., burndown charts), and leverage data for project forecasting and continuous improvement.
  • Lead regular retrospectives to reflect on team performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Implement lessons learned from retrospectives to refine and optimize processes.
  • Coach and mentor team members on project management standards, processes, and best practices.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field; AND Seven (7) years of Project Management experience.
  • An Associate degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent IT vocational training; AND Nine (9) years of Project Management experience.
  • Eleven (11) years of Project Management experience.
  • A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field; AND Six (6) years of Project Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) Certification
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools
