Talent Services Manager Job Description

AM 100 Law Firm is seeking a highly skilled Talent Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing talent services, professional development, and recruiting support to our offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and retain top talent by sourcing, screening, and identifying candidates for employment, reviewing applications, preparing offer letters, conducting reference checks, and administering background checks.
  • Conduct onboarding and new hire orientation for staff and attorneys, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Foster an environment of engagement, diversity, and inclusion among staff and attorneys, promoting a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Work with management and staff to identify ways to build morale, enhance engagement, and increase retention, implementing strategies to improve employee satisfaction and productivity.
  • Provide guidance to employees on issues relating to benefits, FMLA, California Leave of Absence Programs, STD/LTD, and Worker's Compensation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to identify workforce and succession planning opportunities, providing recommendations to the Attorney Recruiting Team and Shareholders on practice area growth.
  • Manage the legal support staff, ensuring they provide exceptional support to attorneys in times of need and in general, handling complex employee relations issues and resolving conflicts.
  • Support and coach managers on employee-related issues, providing guidance on coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Manage the annual performance management process for staff and associates, developing and implementing Performance Improvement Plans and corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist and coach management in dealing with and documenting performance issues, participating in disciplinary meetings or separations, and ensuring all training requirements are completed.
  • Work with management to conduct talent reviews and identify gaps, collaborating with departments and professional development to identify career paths and resources for training and skill development.
  • Understand basic principles of compensation, making salary recommendations and assisting the Business Director with annual salary and bonus administration.
  • Process new hire and separation paperwork, making HRIS transactions, and ensuring data integrity, ensuring that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Ensure that recruitment, personnel, I-9, and EEO files are properly set up and maintained, developing and implementing effective and efficient HR processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Interpret and administer policies, making recommendations for policy changes as needed, providing HR policy guidance and interpretation, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Support change management and the communication of related changes to the office, working on projects with Shared Services, and administering the associate mentoring program and process.
  • Act as a resource for staff on their learning expectations and goals, working with the Hoffman Center and local Shareholders to develop and implement local training programs.
  • Assist with other department activities as needed, performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, and requiring regular travel between the Sacramento, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley offices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years' experience in Human Resources, business management, or a related field, preferably in a law firm environment or professional services organization, including prior management/supervisory experience.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred, with possession of either the PHRca or SHRM-California Specialty Credential being extremely beneficial for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting staff and understanding of best practices in Human Resources, with a general knowledge of employment laws and practices in the specific offices.
  • Strong understanding of benefit and compensation programs, as well as other HR Function areas, with experience with ATS and HRIS systems, WorkDay experience being highly beneficial for this role.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook, as well as Adobe, with exceptional computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
What We Offer:

AM 100 Law Firm offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $160,000, with actual pay adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short-term disability, long-term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long-term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
