Position Summary

Medical Assistant Coordinator for Cardiology Services

Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant / MA Coordinator with extensive experience in patient care and a solid understanding of specific patient populations.

  • Executes assigned patient care and monitoring tasks under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider, RN, or LPN.
  • Responsible for carrying out routine and advanced clinical duties, including but not limited to, measuring vital signs, administering medications as per Emory Clinic protocols, conducting basic diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, performing venipuncture, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient setting.
  • Assists in emergency situations as instructed by a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.
  • May handle some administrative responsibilities to support patient and practice operations, including patient check-in/out, addressing patient inquiries, reinforcing patient and family education, and managing visitor/telephone reception.
  • Maintains patient records and documentation, ensuring proper identification, documentation, routing, and confidentiality.
  • Ensures a clean and safe environment in compliance with Universal Precautions and safety standards.
  • Orders, verifies, and manages inventory of unit supplies.
  • All duties and patient interactions are performed in accordance with Emory Healthcare's patient and family-centered care standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • One year of relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Completion certificate from an accredited medical assistant training program is required.
  • Current AHA BLS certification is mandatory upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of all medical assistant orientation and training requirements, including certification and annual skills competency, is required.
  • Current certification as one of the following is necessary: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from AAMA, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from NHA, or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT.
  • Preferred certifications include CMA or RMA.
  • Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements and annual skills competency.
