Position Overview

This role operates within a collaborative framework, engaging with residents, fellows, attending physicians, and nursing staff dedicated to the care of patients in a hospital setting. The position functions under the guidance of the Medical Director or designated physician, working closely with Patient Care Coordinators, nursing staff, and discharge planners to ensure comprehensive medical and nursing care. Responsibilities include managing primary and urgent medical needs, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, and providing educational support to residents, medical students, and staff.

Educational Requirements

  • Mandatory - Master's degree in Nursing

Experience Requirements

  • Mandatory - None
  • Preferred - 3 years of relevant experience

Licensure and Certifications

  • Mandatory - Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner from ANCC or AANPCP
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from ANCC or AANPCP
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Eligibility for Prescriptive Authority as defined by the State Board of Nursing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based applications and relevant software specific to the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at departmental and system levels.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between facilities.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

  • Provides care tailored to the physical, psycho-social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Maintains a curious approach towards medical practices and patient outcomes, potentially developing research methodologies.
  • Facilitates educational experiences for patients' families, staff, and the broader community.
  • Adapts interactions to suit specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and appropriate communication styles.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.
