JOB SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of supervisory staff, the Culinary Service Associate is responsible for learning the essential skills needed to prepare, heat, and finalize the cooking of various food items while serving customers effectively. This role includes the handling of monetary transactions within a food service environment and maintaining cleanliness in all work areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen and dining areas, including the cleaning of workspaces, equipment, utensils, and dishes.
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with established procedures and standardized recipes.
  • Adhere to the daily meal and snack preparation and serving schedule.
  • Monitor and document the appropriate temperatures for hot and cold food items during preparation and service.
  • Store food items in compliance with temperature guidelines to ensure safety.
  • Utilize large equipment, small wares, and utensils effectively for food preparation.
  • Set up the serving line by arranging food and supplies appropriately, ensuring temperature control throughout service.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by serving food in a friendly and appealing manner.
  • Implement safe food handling practices to promote health and safety for all customers.
  • Follow menus, standardized recipes, and portion sizes, including special dietary requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the dining area.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the supervisor without delay.
  • Demonstrate awareness of cost management in the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure the quality of received items from vendors and verify deliveries against invoices for accuracy.
  • Manage inventory effectively, adhering to first-in-first-out principles and monitoring for expired products regularly.
  • Follow chemical control procedures and maintain accurate chemical inventory records.
  • Clean equipment after use and prepare it for subsequent tasks.
  • Exhibit knowledge of sanitation and safety practices, utilizing proper cleaning methods and chemicals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6-12 months of experience in food preparation and service operations.
  • ServSafe Certification.

NOTE:

This position offers a food service progression plan that includes potential promotions and salary increases at designated intervals of employment.
