Probation and Parole Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Probation and Parole Specialist to join our team at GeorgiaGov. As a key member of our human services delivery team, you will provide critical support to youth offenders in custody or on probation, helping them to achieve rehabilitation and reintegrate into society.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular interviews with youth offenders to assess their progress and compliance with probation contracts and rehabilitation plans.
- Develop and implement effective rehabilitation plans, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations.
- Administer drug and alcohol tests, including random screens, to ensure compliance with substance abuse treatment programs.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive case folders for each assigned youth offender.
- Provide counseling and guidance to youth offenders on issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, anger management, and other factors contributing to their criminal behavior.
- Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations, and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and recommend sentences and sentencing conditions.
- Inform youth offenders of the requirements of conditional release, including office visits, restitution payments, and educational and employment stipulations.
- Write detailed reports describing youth offenders' progress and recommend remedial actions or court interventions as necessary.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with youth offenders, families, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
We are particularly interested in candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or Social Work.
- Two or more years of direct case management experience working with offenders and families in a human services delivery setting.
- Three or more years of experience at the lower-level equivalent position.
