Position Overview

Reporting to the General Manager of Signature Events, the Senior Manager, Signature Events plays a pivotal role in the development and successful execution of premier media-centric NBA events, including the NBA All-Star, NBA Summer League, and NBA Global Games.

This position demands exceptional relationship management skills and a commitment to measurable performance metrics that have demonstrated success in enhancing live event operations and achieving the highest standards. The role involves identifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiencies on both sides of the profit and loss statement, ensuring the delivery of scalable operational procedures, budgets, dashboards, formal stakeholder communications, and executive summaries. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industry best practices and refined project management abilities to guide relevant stakeholders from initial planning discussions through to event execution.

Simultaneously managing multiple events with a keen eye for detail, this role will foster cross-functional collaboration, communicate priorities and deadlines to key stakeholders, and monitor progress against event deliverables.

The successful candidate builds trust by establishing new benchmarks for excellence, meeting tight deadlines, and demonstrating a passionate commitment to the experience of key stakeholders (e.g., fans, teams, players, media, partners, and internal departments). They will adeptly navigate uncertainty by swiftly driving towards straightforward solutions that leverage insights to propel new initiatives. With meticulous attention to detail and scalable project management, this leader will also exhibit outstanding organizational skills that improve as project complexity increases. Possessing a thorough understanding of the costs, revenues, products, services, and systems associated with each event in their portfolio, the ideal candidate will utilize this knowledge to bridge competitiveness gaps and enhance existing strengths. The Lead Coordinator, Signature Events will stay attuned to emerging trends, identify opportunities where others may overlook them, and remain dedicated to delivering polished executive-level outputs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily business and logistical operations for NBA All-Star, NBA Summer League, and assigned NBA Global Games, including support for the NBA Cup (In-Season Tournament).
  • Document, implement, and train on key processes, policies, and procedures that ensure consistent global scalability and facilitate business growth.
  • Deliver high-volume, results-driven project and budget management across assigned events.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager of Signature Events to develop and execute a business plan aimed at profitability for each event, creating additional revenue streams and efficiency measures to maximize operational income and enhance productivity.
  • Track the progress of key initiatives and priorities by regularly meeting with cross-functional project teams to monitor event planning, share insights, and resolve issues.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders by simplifying complex problems for the audience.
  • Support the development and presentation of each event to internal departments, highlighting key achievements, narratives, and activation plans.
  • Lead post-event evaluations that promote data-driven decision-making and actionable follow-up steps.
  • Build relationships with all marquee event markets, emerging technologies, and industry-leading operators to establish cost-effective partnerships.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Proven project and relationship management experience with a strong track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously and a solid understanding of event business models.
  • Expertise in creating, managing, tracking, and reconciling multiple high-value budgets.
  • Familiarity with project management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical mindset with a commitment to using data and metrics to simplify recommendations and establish a shared definition of success.
  • Experience in the consumer, sports, media, and/or entertainment sectors at organizations known for their exceptional live experiences that have driven rapid growth.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
  • High energy, integrity, and humility.
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in premium live events or marketing, with a proven history of leading cross-functional projects.
  • Prior international event experience; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000
