Payroll Lead

Job Summary:
The Payroll Lead is responsible for assisting the supervisor in producing bi-weekly audit reports, processing off-cycle checks, and correcting year-to-date wages and taxes. This role also involves supporting other payroll staff members with their functions and closing bi-weekly payrolls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll analysts/administrators as they perform daily and bi-weekly payroll closing tasks.
- Assist supervisors with distributing work and following up to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Process executive employee payroll, including data entry of stock transactions, deferred compensation, and 401(k) overrides.
- Process stock option file uploads and daily reconciliations.
- Review mass pay upload items and coordinate with the Payroll Systems group to process.
- Act as a backup for the weekly file transfer process for Workforce Central Time and Attendance system.
- Process adjustment entries on employees' records to manually correct data that cannot be corrected through the normal process.
- Manage banking, Positive Pay, ACH returns, and Stop Payments, and act as a backup to supervisors on direct deposit file release for transmission.
- Monitor issues reported on HP Service Center tickets and ensure timely resolution.
- Provide monthly reporting to management on call volume, response time, and service productivity from the HP Service Center.
- Operate equipment that prints, signs, and seals bi-weekly laser payroll checks/advice.
- Review and approve off-cycle payments before they are confirmed and oversee the daily off-cycle check production process.
- Respond to employee inquiries from the payroll Employee Response Line as needed and distribute to the appropriate payroll analyst/administrator for research and follow-up.
- Audit business units' paysheets and bi-weekly audit reports to ensure accurate employee payments and proper data entry procedures for hours.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedure documents.
- Function as a super user on OptiMaxx electronic document scanning process, conducting quality reviews and making corrections.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of HR/Payroll experience required.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Access, PeopleSoft HCM, and Workforce Management system.
- Good analytical and communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree.
