We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiology team at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

About the Role

This is a key position in our interdisciplinary team, where you will provide exceptional patient care, conduct comprehensive health assessments, and develop treatment plans to promote quality health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Quality Patient Care: Deliver high-quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development, and other identified needs.
  • Assess Health Status: Conduct thorough medical history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment to identify patient needs.
  • Monitor Patient Data: Review laboratory, clinical radiographic, and procedural data for daily rounds to ensure accurate patient care.
  • Review Patient Findings: Analyze patient findings, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and plan for further diagnosis and therapeutic management.
Intervention and Evaluation
  • Prevent and Manage Symptoms: Prevent, minimize, and manage symptoms, toxicities, and health abnormalities related to disease or treatment.
  • Evaluate Healthcare Provided: Evaluate healthcare provided and modify care as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide Psychological Support: Offer psychological support to patients and families to promote emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate Resource Utilization: Facilitate the use of agency resources and coordinate services related to patient care.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures
  • Perform Medical Procedures: Undergo training for specific medical procedures and demonstrate competency under the direct supervision of a physician.
  • Administer Medications and Conduct Lumbar Punctures: Perform medical procedures, including obtaining blood samples, administering medications, and conducting lumbar punctures.
Educator and Researcher
  • Provide Health Education: Provide health education to patients and their families to promote health literacy.
  • Participate in Research Efforts: Contribute to research efforts by identifying clinical problems and initiating or collaborating in research projects.
  • Apply Research to Clinical Practice: Apply pertinent research to clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
Consultation and Education
  • Provide Consultation: Provide consultation to colleagues and allied personnel to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Disciplines: Collaborate with medical, nursing, and other disciplines regarding plan of care, follow-up, and evaluation.
Education and Licensure
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice: Possess a Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice.
  • Written Authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing: Hold written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification: Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
