This role involves functioning as an advanced practice clinician, dedicated to the health and well-being of patients requiring medical attention, while operating under the guidance of a licensed physician.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Physician Assistant is responsible for:
- Conducting patient examinations, diagnosing conditions, and determining appropriate treatment plans.
- Analyzing and interpreting diagnostic tests, including x-rays and laboratory results.
- Prescribing medications and managing patient histories.
- Providing surgical assistance and coordinating various therapeutic interventions.
- Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, either independently or as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Clinical Leadership
Demonstrates leadership by serving as a clinical resource and advocate for patients. Engages in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborates effectively with healthcare professionals to enhance patient care.
Patient Care Coordination
Ensures timely and appropriate patient care by coordinating with healthcare providers and ancillary clinicians. Focuses on achieving optimal patient outcomes tailored to individual needs.
Quality and Safety
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with established protocols. Reviews patient medications and test results, providing guidance on necessary actions based on findings.
Documentation and Compliance
Maintains accurate medical records, including diagnoses and coding, to support departmental financial goals and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Education:
Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program recognized by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Experience:
A minimum of one year of clinical experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Physician Assistant license from the Texas Board of Physician Assistants, NCCPA certification, and relevant prescriptive authority.
Demonstrates effective communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work autonomously. Exhibits strong organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
