Mental Health Technician Job Description

At Discovery Behavioral Health, we are committed to providing innovative care to our patients. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through their treatment experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Orient new patients to the treatment program, its requirements, and routine.
  • Monitor patients through the treatment experience, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Contribute to the well-being of all patients by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating a professional and caring manner.
  • Facilitate treatment plans by providing day-to-day support to patients and directing them in a clear and concise manner.
  • Run and engage patients in therapeutic groups, such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation.
  • Document any behaviors that occur in the milieu in a thorough and appropriate manner.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and transfer any unable-to-assist calls to the Therapist, Milieu Manager, or Program Director.
  • Maintain a clean environment by completing cleaning tasks and documenting.
Available Shifts:

We offer various shifts to accommodate different schedules, including:

  • FT 1: Monday 3-11p, Tuesday & Wednesday 2:30p-10:30, Saturday 2-10pm
  • FT 2: Wednesday 7a-3p, Friday 3-11p, Saturday 11a-7p, Sunday 2-10pm
  • PT 1: Tuesday 11p-7a Overnight, Saturday 2-10pm
  • PT 2: Saturday and Sunday 3-11pm
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's degree or one year of experience working with mental health or adolescents
  • Must attend all training, education, and staff enrichment activities
  • Must possess a current Driver's License in good standing
  • Must be CPI and CPR/First Aid certified within 90 days of employment
