The Salvation Army, a globally recognized non-profit organization with a faith-based mission, is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Shelter Operations Coordinator.
Job Responsibilities:
This role involves overseeing the daily functions of the shelter, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all residents. Key responsibilities include:
- Daily Operations (75%): Manage the daily activities within the shelter, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist guests with intake processes and maintain accurate records of their stay.
- Monitor guest activities to ensure safety and adherence to shelter guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain logs and reports reflecting program activities and occupancy levels.
- Conduct regular checks of the facility for security and safety.
- Distribute essential items such as linens and hygiene products.
- Assign and oversee housekeeping tasks to residents, ensuring compliance with house rules.
- Facilitate the orientation of new guests and assist with case management documentation.
Housekeeping (10%):
Ensure the shelter is clean and welcoming by performing necessary cleaning tasks and managing laundry services.
Record Keeping (10%):
Complete required documentation for client intake and maintain accurate records in the system.
Additional Responsibilities (5%):
Assist in meal preparation and service for residents, respond to inquiries about shelter operations, and handle emergencies with composure.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. and ideally have one year of experience in security or social services. A combination of training and experience that meets the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will also be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to supervise resident activities while ensuring compliance with established policies.
Working Conditions:
This position is performed in a standard office environment with minimal physical discomforts.
