MAB Community Services is a dynamic organization dedicated to providing high-quality support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Residential Care Specialist to join our team.
About the Role
The Residential Care Specialist will be responsible for providing direct care and support to participants in cluster homes, promoting their independence, and encouraging personal growth. This role involves working closely with the Residential Coordinator to ensure a safe and supportive living environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Support Participants: Assist participants with daily living activities, such as bathing, cooking, and cleaning, while promoting their independence and autonomy.
- Advocacy and Support Planning: Advocate effectively for participants, ensuring their choices, interests, and needs are supported and implemented consistently with their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Safety and Security: Ensure a safe and clean home environment, reporting any concerns or issues to the Residential Coordinator.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and assessments in the implementation of ISPs, while adhering to program policies on documentation, communication, reporting, and confidentiality.
- Transportation and Accompaniment: Provide transportation to community activities, appointments, work, errands, medical visits, and other engagements, while ensuring participants' safety and well-being.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree and/or related experience are preferred.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, co-workers, and community professionals, while demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
- Certifications and Training: Valid MA driver's license, Medication Administration Program (MAP) Certification, CPR, and First Aid certifications, which MAB Community Services will assist employees with obtaining if necessary.
- Physical Demands: Ability to maintain a high level of energy in a fast-paced environment, frequently walking, standing, and driving, while being able to lift and/or carry lightweight and moderately heavy objects, and assisting in lifting and transferring participants when needed.
Working Hours and Location
This position requires a commitment to 21 hours per week, spread across varying shifts, including overnight rotations. The successful candidate will be required to work in a residential setting within the MAB Community Services network.
Compensation and Benefits
MAB Community Services offers an estimated annual salary of $55,000 - $65,000, based on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
