The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment to assist radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Protects patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards, adhering to established protocols.
  • Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, implementing infection control measures.
  • Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis, adjusting radiographic controls as needed.
  • Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific body parts as requested by physicians, checking images for clarity and retaking when necessary.
  • Distributes X-rays to appropriate medical staff, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Performs quality control checks to ensure X-ray units meet standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
  • Complies with safety standards, cleaning and maintaining radiographic equipment, and ordering supplies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in radiological technology from an accredited program.
  • One to three years of experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, preferably in a medical practice environment.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires mobility, frequent walking, standing, and sitting, with some bending, stooping, and stretching, and periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires normal (corrected) vision and coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional variations depending on company schedule.
