Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Medical Coding Instructor to join our team at Piedmont Community College. As an adjunct professor, you will be responsible for teaching Medical Terminology & Anatomy, Medical Coding Specialist, and Medical Billing Specialist Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging online classes, incorporating creative activities to motivate students.
  • Evaluate student progress, prepare curriculum, and keep abreast of coding updates to incorporate into the curriculum.
  • Provide instruction on Medical Terminology & Anatomy, Medical Coding Specialist, and Medical Billing Specialist Programs, preparing students for AAPC national certification exams.
  • Assess student performance, provide remediation, and submit end-of-course reports.
Requirements
  • 2 years of professional experience as a medical coder.
  • Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from AAPC or CCS or CCS-P certification through AHIMA.
  • Associate degree or higher in a healthcare-related field.
  • Working knowledge of online learning management systems and training platforms, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience.
  • AAPC Approved Instructor Certification.
