Job Title: Senior Policy Analyst

Join the National Governors Association as a Senior Policy Analyst and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to public policy challenges. As a key member of the Center for Best Practices team, you will support Governors on a range of energy and environmental policy issues, including energy planning, system modernization, and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement evidence-based policies focused on achieving specific outcomes, working closely with Governors, their staff, and executive branch appointees.
  • Lead the development of events, including workshops, seminars, meetings, and presentations, to facilitate meaningful discourse and problem-solving among Governors and senior state policy staff.
  • Provide 'best practice' guidance and state technical assistance to Governors' policy advisors, other state policymakers, and NGA committees, task forces, and work groups.
  • Manage multiple ongoing projects, including engaging with partners and funders, working with sub-contracts and consultants, and ensuring the timely completion of deliverables.
  • Write reports, articles, issue briefs, case studies, guides, tools, and memoranda on program and policy issues and best practices of relevance to Governors and their policy staffs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, energy policy, or a related field.
  • Five-plus years of experience working in areas of policies and programs within the energy or environmental policy portfolio.
  • Substantive knowledge and experience working on a wide range of state policy approaches to addressing energy and environmental policy areas.
  • Familiarity with U.S. EPA, DOE, and other federal agency environmental initiatives.
  • Knowledge of state energy planning, grid modernization, and energy infrastructure development/new technology deployment.
