Job Summary

Sycamores provides a range of equitable mental health and homeless services to diverse populations through various programs. Our agency focuses on supporting low-income, high-risk youth, and we are committed to creating positive relationships between youth and adult allies to help them access necessary services and supports for stable housing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Locate, identify, and build relationships with youth and young adult families experiencing homelessness to engage and provide immediate support through linkage to shelters, long-term housing, and employment-based resources.
  • Provide supportive services to unsheltered individuals, families, and youth to navigate and connect them to various housing resources and support their successful integration into housing outcomes.
  • Support youth who have been linked to housing and help them navigate the setting, relationships with landlords and tenants, and responsibilities with the Housing Authority.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, liberal arts, or a related healthcare field preferred, or work history in the homeless field considered in lieu of a BA.
  • Non-judgmental, developmentally appropriate, strengths-based, individualized approach.
  • Understanding of TAY and YYA best practices and willingness to incorporate Sycamores' philosophy into practice.
  • Experience working with homeless individuals/YYA preferred.
  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
  • Valid California Driver License and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent driving to various work site locations/areas.
  • Frequent/continuous sitting as well as frequent standing/walking.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
  • Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
  • Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers, and performing job duties.
  • Requires physical presence in the office during standard business hours if not in the field.
  • Ability to operate a personal and company motor vehicle.
