Job Title: Cancer Center Director

About the Role:

The Cancer Center Director will lead the Cancer Center at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, a renowned institution dedicated to understanding human biology and disease. The Director will oversee the overall management of the Cancer Center, including its research programs, shared resources, and community outreach initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Cancer Center's research agenda and translational initiatives.
  • Lead a team of Program Leaders, Associate Directors, and other staff to achieve the Cancer Center's goals.
  • Collaborate with the Institute's scientific leadership to foster an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Secure funding for the Cancer Center through grants, partnerships, and other means.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NCI, industry partners, and other research institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Institute policies.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Proven track record of successful NCI-funded grants and research leadership.
  • Experience in cancer biology and translational research.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
