Position Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist I PRN is responsible for evaluating and assessing patients to set functional, measurable objectives aimed at enhancing their functional capabilities. This role involves delivering treatment in accordance with a structured care plan to achieve the defined objectives. The therapist is also tasked with planning for patient discharge and effectively communicating findings and progress in line with professional licensure and departmental policies. Additional reporting may be required. Supervision of clinical students and support staff, including certified assistants and technicians, may also be part of the responsibilities. Adherence to the ASHA Code of Ethics is essential, alongside fostering a compassionate environment that promotes health and healing. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of patients using both subjective and objective data.
- Communicate evaluation results to patients and other caregivers effectively.
- Implement treatment strategies in alignment with established goals outlined in the care plan.
- Assess the effectiveness of the care plan and make necessary adjustments.
- Reassess the patient's functional status regularly.
- Provide discharge planning information, including education for patients and families, follow-up care, and referrals to community resources.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff and students.
- Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery.
- Complete assigned objectives diligently.
