Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and analyzes patients to set functional, quantifiable objectives aimed at enhancing their functional capabilities. Treatment is delivered in accordance with a documented care plan to achieve the defined objectives. The role involves planning for patient discharge and effectively communicating findings and progress in line with professional licensure, scope of practice, and departmental policies. Additional reports may be generated as required. The position may include supervision of clinical students and support personnel, such as certified assistants and volunteers. Adherence to the ASHA Code of Ethics is essential. A nurturing relationship is fostered to promote health and recovery. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of patients utilizing both subjective and objective data.
- Relay evaluation outcomes to patients and their caregivers.
- Implement treatment in alignment with established goals outlined in the care plan.
- Assess the effectiveness of the care plan and make necessary adjustments.
- Reevaluate the patient's functional status periodically.
- Provide comprehensive discharge planning information, including education for patients and families, follow-up care, and referrals to community resources.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff and students.
- Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery.
- Complete assigned objectives in a timely manner.
