Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Fire Rescue Officer to join our team at the City of Killeen, TX. As a Fire Rescue Officer, you will be responsible for performing firefighting, emergency aid, and fire prevention duties, while maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform firefighting activities, including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks.
  • Participate in fire drills, attend classes in firefighting, rescue, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects.
  • Operate radio and other communication equipment.
  • Participate in the inspection of buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs.
  • Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities, and perform minor repairs to departmental equipment.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, but not have reached their 36th birthday by the date of hire.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and write the English language and meet the Civil Service requirements of the City of Killeen.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License by date of hire, and obtain a Class B Texas Driver's License within 15 days of hire or within 15 days of completing Fire and EMT Academy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Structural Firefighter Certification from Texas Commission on Fire Protection and Licensed/Certified EMT - Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic from Texas Department of State Health Services.
