Job Description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking skilled Assemblers to work in a fast-paced and dynamic high-tech environment. If you have demonstrated successful experience in manual dexterity, multitasking, and process improvement skills, we invite you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow detailed work instructions to perform basic production duties such as assembly, operating machinery, packaging products, building products, and soldering.
  • Obtain a basic understanding of quality and productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, retain information, and become proficient in basic electronic production processes.
  • Learn and follow all safety policies.
  • Develop positive and effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • The ability to listen, comprehend, and follow technical instructions.
  • The ability to work overtime as required.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • The ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • The ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • The ability to learn and follow safety policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Assembly experience.
  • Word processing and spreadsheet skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 40 pounds frequently.
  • Sit and/or stand at least 8 hours.
  • Vision correctable to 20/30 or better.
  • Differentiate color.
  • Reach.
  • Bend.
  • Kneel.
  • Twist.
  • Grip.
  • Pinch.
  • Fine finger dexterity sufficient to handle and place parts with precision and accuracy for at least 8 hours.

This position is located at SEL's newest manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN. Residents enjoy a mix of suburban and urban environments, as well as a short drive to Indianapolis and Chicago. West Lafayette is a great place to call home.
