Quality Assurance Specialist

T. Marzetti Company, a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation, is a leading manufacturer and marketer of specialty food products for the retail and foodservice markets. Our brands include Marzetti, New York Bakery, and Sister Schuberts, as well as exclusive license agreements for Olive Garden dressings, Chick-fil-A sauces, and Buffalo Wild Wings sauces. Our foodservice business supplies top restaurant chains in the United States.
Job SummaryThe Quality Assurance Analyst I position plays a critical role in maintaining the quality of incoming ingredients, in-line product, and finished product. This individual will report any non-conformances of finished product to the QA Supervisor or Manager.
Responsibilities- Collect samples of ingredients, products, or packages and monitor tests according to established procedures.
- Monitor processes to ensure they are operating consistently and document results neatly and precisely.
- Label and maintain samples of ingredients and products for retention and shelf life monitoring.
- Organize collected data for management review and maintain lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Communicate non-compliant results immediately to management and monitor the plant for compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Recommend methods to improve processes to reduce waste, improve productivity, improve quality, and/or consistency.
- Accurately weigh colors, flavors, and other small ingredients and test R&D samples for Food Safety and specification development.
QA associates, production, shipping, and receiving
Qualifications- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and make and record observations.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Previous quality assurance experience preferred.
This position works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, lift, reach, and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to stand for an 8-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks. Earplugs, hairnets, and steel-toed shoes are required per company and plant GMP and Safety requirements.
