Core Objective

The Senior Manager of LNG Operations serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the LNG Operations Service Team, delivering extensive functional knowledge to Sempra Infrastructure's operational facilities and those in the development phase.

As a vital member of a shared service team, the Senior Manager will leverage their refined LNG operations expertise to foster, support, and enhance Operational Excellence across Sempra Infrastructure's LNG assets, all while adhering to Sempra's Guiding Principles.

Key areas of specialization encompass life safety, process safety, LNG process unit operations, operational planning and training, regulatory compliance, and effective application utilization. The role requires the ability to convey this expertise to a diverse workforce within a customer-focused shared services framework that aligns with the commercial objectives of a premier LNG Export and Import operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with operational facilities throughout all stages of LNG Plant Operations, including production management, ship gas-up, cooldown, loading, vaporization, manpower distribution, lean operations, and operational audits. Work closely with facilities to implement safe work practices, including effective Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Management of Change (MOC) procedures. Observe and assess operational practices to devise and implement effective strategies.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership and expertise in simplifying and enhancing complex procedures and training, ensuring the integration of international standards and specific regulatory requirements into workflows in a compliant manner. Advocate for the adoption of Best Practices across all operational facilities.
  • Act as a technical and operational resource for facilities, observing and assessing their operations to provide unique insights and, when necessary, develop and implement solutions to challenges faced by the facilities. This includes expertise in Process Simulators, robust training programs, staffing strategies for developmental projects, and software applications for scheduling, planning, ship mooring, pilot simulation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of USCG regulations, including 33 CFR 127, and assist LNG facilities with audit preparations and inspections by PHMSA, FERC, and USCG as required.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing OPEX budgets, operational plans, and staffing strategies for developmental projects, utilizing a deep understanding of cost components and drivers specific to LNG facilities.
  • Foster relationships with LNG Operating facilities and industry organizations, monitoring industry trends and events that may impact Sempra Infrastructure's LNG assets.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned (limited to 5% of responsibilities).
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in LNG facility operations, with a career progression from Operator to LNG plant management.
  • Willingness to travel to facilities outside the United States.
  • In-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape, particularly concerning USCG, PHMSA, and FERC for US LNG facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the operational and commercial aspects of LNG Facilities.
  • Ability to manage and guide personnel with diverse responsibilities related to LNG Facilities.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects concurrently while achieving corporate and project objectives.

  • Master's degree.
