The Patient Services Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of patient dietary requirements within healthcare environments. This position serves as a vital link between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the timely delivery and collection of patient meal trays. Ensures that snacks and nourishments are provided as per physician or dietitian orders. Engages with patients to explain the offerings of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
- Gathers information regarding patients' food preferences and aversions, communicating these to the relevant departments.
- Effectively relays all patient dietary needs to the appropriate personnel within the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
- Guarantees that patients receive the correct nutrition diet care orders by presenting suitable menu options.
- Upholds sanitation standards by adhering to established cleaning schedules and completing additional sanitation tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
- Conducts inventory checks and replenishes supplies in pantries, refrigerators, and freezers within assigned units.
- Maintains accurate temperature logs for unit refrigeration and freezing equipment.
- Demonstrates understanding of therapeutic diets by following established protocols and seeking guidance from supervisors or dietitians when necessary.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure that all patients' fundamental nutritional care needs are adequately addressed.
