Position Summary:
We are on the lookout for a Procurement Specialist to become an integral part of our Forge Biologics team. This position will play a crucial role in the strategic and operational aspects of our supply chain, directly supporting our cGMP manufacturing initiatives. The Procurement Specialist will oversee all purchasing and sourcing activities for both internal and external gene therapy projects.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to enhance a vital function within our organization, contributing to our overall success. The selected candidate will lead purchasing efforts, liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners, and ensure seamless support for GMP and research operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily procurement activities, including executing purchase orders, establishing communication with suppliers, and following up on order statuses.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and accurate lead times.
- Facilitate internal meetings to support sourcing for equipment and materials required for GMP and research programs.
- Organize regular meetings with key suppliers to review open orders.
- Ensure vendor compliance with performance standards and pursue cGMP compliant products.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to prepare and present bi-weekly backorder reports.
- Assist in implementing an inventory management system, including setting reorder points and safety stock levels.
- Utilize industry insights to identify new manufacturers and enhance product availability.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Management to negotiate favorable supply agreements.
- Support vendor evaluations and assist in gathering necessary information for supplier quality assessments.
- Assist the finance team in resolving any pricing or invoicing issues.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to company policies in all interactions.
- Collaborate with Inventory Analysts and Operations Planners to ensure adequate product supply for operations.
- Develop long-term purchase agreements for frequently ordered items to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or purchasing.
- Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated supply chain processes is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to work hours that support production and product transfer activities.
- Strong familiarity with various ERP/MRP systems.
- Occasional travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This role operates in both a warehouse and office setting, with physical demands varying based on specific tasks. The environment is typically moderate in noise level. The position requires the use of standard office equipment and warehouse tools, including the ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
