Position Overview: Compliance Specialist

The Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while managing warehouse operations effectively. This position encompasses the precise handling of part orders and various warehouse responsibilities, including the entry of transactions into multiple internal and external systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the creation, execution, and maintenance of a compliance program for import/export activities in the APAC region.
  • Conduct product classification, including HTS and ECCN codes, for all items offered by the business.
  • Aid in the preparation of essential international documentation such as commercial invoices, AES filings, certificates of origin, and shipper's letters of instructions.
  • Review and authorize all international shipments to guarantee compliance with U.S. and global regulations.
  • Facilitate the prompt clearance of goods through customs on an international scale.
  • Collaborate with the Sales department to assess contract risks in various countries.
  • Assist in the application for export licenses and manage products shipped under license exceptions as necessary.
  • Oversee the performance of sub warehouse operations to meet the requirements of the support and sales teams.
  • Participate in Supply Chain meetings and functions as required.
  • Ensure accuracy in inventory counts and cycle counts for the APAC sub warehouse.
  • Manage physical and systemic inventory re-evaluations and the scrap process.
  • Support the writing of performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Interface with sales and customers to coordinate equipment pickups and deliveries.
  • Collaborate with Importer of Record (IOR) service providers to oversee import and export activities.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an export compliance capacity.
  • In-depth understanding of Export Administration Regulations.
  • Proficient in determining HTS and ECCN codes for accurate product classification.
  • Strong knowledge of international incoterms and transportation logistics within the APAC region.
  • Familiarity with customs brokers and freight forwarding processes.
  • Awareness of products that may be classified as dual-use or regulated under U.S. and international law.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication abilities to convey complex information clearly to peers and management.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse management principles.
  • Experience in liaising with common carriers and vendors.
  • Capability to address practical challenges and interpret various instructions in diverse formats.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, technical documents, and governmental regulations. Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals, as well as effectively presenting information to groups.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard hours if necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ITAR Regulations.
  • APICS certification in Logistics or a related field.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with relevant experience; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% travel may be required.
