About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure solutions to support our mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our infrastructure service provider to build and maintain cloud infrastructures, websites, applications, services, and databases on various environment platforms.
  • Deploy custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications on all environment platforms and report results to application development staff and management.
  • Assist application development staff with troubleshooting deployment issues and ensure the successful processing of applications supporting our mission.
  • Measure and monitor the performance of our DPS applications and provide information on performance to software developers, database administrators, security, business areas, and the State's infrastructure service provider.
  • Work with the above sections to resolve any issues disrupting DPS processing and improve the processes supporting DPS.
  • Participate in meetings to define technical requirements for applications supporting our mission and input will be from software developers, database administrators, security, business areas, and other project team members.
Requirements
  • 60 months combined work experience in evaluating effectiveness and risk of IT processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description and job posting.
  • Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems, 42 months combined work experience in evaluating effectiveness and risk of IT processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description and job posting.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems, 36 months combined work experience in evaluating effectiveness and risk of IT processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff, including 12 months work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description and job posting.
  • Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
  • Knowledge of IT principles, methods, and practices in assigned specialty area.
  • Ability to understand practical field of study and stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Ability to comprehend and discuss highly abstract material.
