Job Overview

General Overview:

The Aseptic Packaging Specialist plays a crucial role in fulfilling designated production tasks to guarantee satisfaction for customers, team members, and suppliers. This position involves the maintenance and operation of Tetra Pak's aseptic secondary packaging machinery, ensuring optimal functionality. Adherence to all GMP, SOP, HACCP, and Food Safety standards is essential at all times. This role supports the production of dairy goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve set objectives in production, safety, quality, efficiency, and cost management.
  2. Alert colleagues to mechanical issues to enhance productivity and equipment performance, while identifying opportunities for operator assistance in resolving issues.
  3. Ensure compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and corporate or plant regulations.
  4. Follow established procedures for cleaning and operating machinery, completing checklists to confirm each step.
  5. Set up machinery according to proper protocols and verify each step with checklists.
  6. Operate and oversee equipment while documenting all necessary information and conducting scheduled quality assessments.
  7. Ensure that machinery is adequately supplied with materials and maintain logbooks as required.
  8. Properly scan all raw materials used in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  9. Complete cleaning protocols after production runs and prepare equipment for subsequent runs, including necessary size adjustments.
  10. Execute tasks assigned by the Manager or designated personnel.
  11. Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment following established guidelines, utilizing manuals and resources for assistance.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the immediate work area, using personal protective equipment when handling chemicals.
  13. Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, Quality Manager, and Plant Manager.
  14. Document required information in equipment logbooks.
  15. Monitor assigned equipment for production quality and report any issues to the Operations Manager or designated personnel.
  16. Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  17. Understand and apply Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures when necessary.
  18. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by supporting and completing daily tasks as directed by management.
  19. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  20. Foster a safe and collaborative work environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  21. Assist in various production areas as directed by supervisors and begin training in key production areas such as fillers, forklifts, and production lines.
  22. Develop competence in online circuits and ensure proper connections are made within the facility.
  23. Cover breaks and assist with staffing needs as assigned by supervisors.
  24. Comply with all legal standards regarding dairy processing and safety during assigned shifts, reporting to supervisors as necessary.
  25. Work safely and promptly report safety concerns to supervisors, taking corrective actions as needed.
  26. Report food safety issues and take appropriate action, supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and quality.
  27. Ensure work areas are sanitary and strictly follow sanitation protocols.
  28. Facilitate effective communication between shifts and departments.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, along with knowledge of weights and measures.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English to perform job functions effectively.
  • Understanding of the company's mission, goals, and individual contributions to achieving them.
  • Capability to operate facility equipment as required in the assigned area.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a precision team of skilled individuals.
  • Proactive in identifying tasks and taking action when requested.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Commitment to completing assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Successfully complete all company training requirements.
  • Ability to interpret company documents and UPC/code information.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: GED or High School Diploma.
  • 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Responsible for learning, cleaning, and operating assigned machinery.
  • Meet departmental productivity standards consistently.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful demeanor.
  • Regularly communicate with supervisors regarding job-related matters.
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills, prioritizing workload and coordinating breaks to ensure continuous operation.
  • Report to work punctually and in a condition to perform duties.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in the assigned uniform at all times.
  • Adhere to performance criteria and standards of conduct as outlined in company policies.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and report safety concerns immediately.
  • Promptly report any damage to equipment, tools, or facilities to plant leadership.
  • Complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities, including necessary paperwork after shift changes, and communicate effectively with incoming operators.

Work Schedule:

  • Availability for morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts any day of the week based on assigned schedules.
  • Requests for specific days off must be approved in advance by the Manager.
  • Generally scheduled for 40 hours per week; additional hours may be required based on business needs.

Environmental Considerations:

  • Typically protected from extreme weather conditions, but may encounter hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy environments.
  • Possible exposure to allergens and ingredients used in food production.
  • May come into contact with chemicals used in food processing and sanitation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including office, production, and warehouse environments.
  • Must wear necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.
  • Ability to stand or sit continuously for a full shift, including meal breaks.
  • Physically capable of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, crouching, and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions effectively.
