Job Summary

This role works closely with the Business Banking team and product partners to assess the financial health of individuals and businesses applying for credit, supporting the Business Banker, Chief Banking Officer, and Credit Administration Manager in preparing loan presentations. The Credit Analyst is also responsible for ongoing monitoring and risk management of assigned portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze applicant business plans, financial status, loan repayment ability, net worth, and earnings history for new, renewal, and existing loans, assigning appropriate loan quality grades and summarizing in loan presentations, working in conjunction with Business Bankers.
  • Identify key risk factors and mitigants related to specific transactions and assigned portfolios.
  • Develop a well-informed and balanced view of businesses, financial, and competitive risks faced by companies, sectors, and industries.
  • Interpret financial information and prepare reports for Business Bankers and other areas of the bank as requested.
  • Assist with the credit underwriting platform, including annual reviews, covenant testing, reporting, and document management.
  • Review appraisals and other third-party reports to assess collateral values and identify potential risks in transactions.
  • Maintain commercial financial credit files, emphasizing timely and accurate filing of financial data and due diligence items.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to Business Bankers, Chief Business Banking Officer, Loan Review personnel, and other key positions as assigned and needed.
  • Maintain the financial information tracking system, emphasizing timely and accurate updates of numerous financial data.
  • Participate in customer due diligence calls as necessary and attend client/bank meetings to develop a better understanding of companies, collateral, and management.
  • Perform tasks and other duties as assigned, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job but may be altered or re-designed depending on individual circumstances.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (accounting/finance/economics) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit/lending experience preferred.
  • Completion of a major corporate bank credit training program preferred.
  • Credit, structuring, and marketing experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Familiarity with financial institution business banking procedures.
  • Must have computer software proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in the credit underwriting platform.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and analyze credit information.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously.
