Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Transmission Systems Engineer to join our team at SubCom. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for defining, planning, and executing test programs to support the development and delivery of undersea optical transmission systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate and evaluate the performance of undersea optical transmission systems.
  • Run transmission experiments over prototypes of long-haul fiber optic systems to qualify designs and design processes for new systems and upgrades.
  • Analyze data and results to identify areas for improvement and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of test results into the development process.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics or a related field, or a Bachelor of Science degree combined with relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of optical transmission testing and characterization, including optical gain and loss, OSNR, PMD, PDL, dispersion, and nonlinear processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and proposals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python or C++.
