This position is a critical component of the U.S. Department of the Interior's mission to preserve and protect America's natural and cultural resources. As a Custodial Worker, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities and public spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to transport materials and equipment.
  • Perform custodial duties, including cleaning offices, comfort facilities, and public spaces.
  • Conduct grounds maintenance, including sweeping, mowing, and trimming vegetation.
  • Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work.
Qualifications
  • You must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
  • Work practices.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Dexterity and safety.
Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Special Requirements
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
  • You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
