We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facility Maintenance Technician to join our team at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance duties, ensuring the safe and proper functioning of equipment, and identifying and reporting malfunctions or emergencies.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general, routine maintenance duties, including monitoring HVAC equipment, reading gauges and meters, pool maintenance, back washing, and filter changes.
- Ensure all facilities, grounds, and equipment are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventative schedules.
- Ensure the safe and proper functioning of equipment, including lighting, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Identify and report malfunctions or emergencies, and participate in preventative maintenance programs.
- Record daily maintenance and repair logs, and collect information on cost estimates for facilities renovations, expansions, or space allocations.
- Assist skilled trades by performing semi-skilled tasks for the care and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Manage maintenance and upkeep of equipment, including warranty, calibration service, or preventive maintenance agreements.
- Interface with system contractors on utilities and maintenance to determine needs, develop plans, and resolve problems within the facility.
- Advise senior management of availability of various items and cost of services needed to operate the facility.
- Maintain the general day-to-day work life and appearance of the recreational facilities.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; a Technical degree is highly preferred.
- Must have 2-3 years of prior experience in facility management.
- Requires knowledge in general and system preventive maintenance in the areas of service, security, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Defensive Driving, Child Abuse Prevention, and Appropriate Touch.
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA-approved basic life-saving skills, such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.
- Must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive to other locations in the San Antonio and surrounding areas.
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
- Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
- Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment, which may involve, but not limited to, the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces, underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
