At Abrazo West Campus, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated CVOR Tech to join our team. As a CVOR Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Cardiovascular Operating Room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician with advanced tasks during surgical procedures, including cardiopulmonary bypass/heart-lung machine use, cardiac assistive devices, and vascular access and interventions.
- Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies, reviewing case carts for correct instruments and supplies, and ensuring good working order of instruments.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs, scrub and provide instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure, pass instruments and retract tissue.
- Demonstrate the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, participate in counting sharps, instruments, and sponges, and prepare instruments for cleaning following each case.
- Ensure that all surgeon preference cards are accurate, assist with OR turnover between cases, participate in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms, and participate in or lead the training and orientation of surgical staff and students, as assigned.
- Follow safety procedures regarding medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments, and be proficient to scrub on at least two surgical specialties.
Requirements:
- Minimum education: Surgical technologist certification program
- Preferred education: Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum experience: 3-4 years of experience in a surgical technologist role
- Preferred experience: 1 year in CVOR setting
- Required licenses/certifications: Surgical technologist certification and Basic life support certification
- Hours per week: 40 hours
- On call requirement: STAR program
About the STAR Program:
The STAR program is a guaranteed 80-hour regular pay program for employees who participate in the program. This includes 40 hours of regular work hours at the facility and 80 hours of on-call shifts. Program participation consists of five 8-hour work shifts and five 16-hour on-call shifts per pay period. Differentials will apply for hours worked only.
