The Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist (CVOR ST) plays a vital role in assisting the physician with advanced tasks during surgical procedures. This position requires the ability to work under high pressure in a fast-paced environment, utilizing good interpersonal and communication skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
Responsibilities- Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies, reviewing case carts for correct instruments and supplies, and ensuring good working order of instruments.
- Anticipates the surgeon's needs, scrubs, and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, participates in counting sharps, instruments, and sponges, and prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.
- Ensures that all surgeon preference cards are accurate and assists with OR turnover between cases.
- Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies, and cleaning operating rooms, and follows safety procedures regarding medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, and radiation and laser safety.
- Is proficient to scrub on at least two surgical specialties and participates in or leads the training and orientation of surgical staff and students, as assigned.
- Minimum education: Surgical technologist certification program
- Preferred education: Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
- Minimum experience: 3-4 years of experience in a surgical technologist role
- Preferred experience: 1 year in CVOR setting
- Required licenses/certifications: Surgical technologist certification and Basic life support certification
Abrazo West Campus offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. Additionally, employees in the STAR program are guaranteed 80 hours of regular pay, including 40 hours of work hours at the facility and 40 hours of on-call shifts.
