Position Overview

BAI is currently seeking a dedicated junior associate attorney for a full-time role. This position involves reviewing and drafting agreements related to motion picture distribution, as well as supporting development, financing, and production agreements.

As a fully remote firm, BAI fosters communication through our company phone system, Slack, and regular video meetings. Our attorneys work both collaboratively and independently, focusing on innovative solutions to bring our clients' visions to fruition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and provide feedback on distribution agreements, deal terms, security agreements, licensing agreements, talent agreements, and releases.
  • Prepare and evaluate development agreements related to the acquisition of intellectual property and chain of title.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and team members regarding project progress.
  • Assist senior attorneys as part of production counsel teams for various media projects.
  • Examine legal documents for rights, obligations, and clearance issues in collaboration with distributors and producers.
  • Address issues with our distribution services partner and assist in resolving any delivery discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Must be admitted to practice law in California or awaiting results from the California Bar exam.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Strong interest in entertainment law.
  • Experience in supporting senior attorneys within a law firm.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,650-$98,000, based on a metric that considers the attorney's billing rate and expected annual billable hours.
  • Potential for a portion of the first-year salary to be paid as a guaranteed bonus for meeting annual billing expectations.
